Dog Upset Stomach Remedy – Chicken and Rice

Is your dog having stomach issues?

It’s not always easy to tell what is causing upset stomach in dogs. It could be something he ate outside (spoiled food etc.), he ate something he shouldn’t have from the trash or even anxiety!

Whatever the reason is, it’s making your pup feel uncomfortable, so you need to help him!

Important note: If you notice anything out of the ordinary in your dog’s poop or vomit, you need to take him to the veterinarian right away. Especially if you notice any blood. This can be life threatening so don’t try to handle it alone. He needs medical attention!

But if your dog just has a simple upset stomach try this remedy:

Chicken and rice.

Note: Make sure not to feed your dog anything else but chicken and rice until his stomach issue is resolved. If your dog has a very bad case of diarrhea don’t give him anything to eat for about 12 hours, then cook him the chicken and rice.

Chicken and rice are low-fat and easily digestible which makes it a perfect meal to solve upset stomach issues.

Recipe

Fully cook the following.

For small dogs 1-2 chicken tenders and 1/4 cup rice

For medium dogs 1 chicken breast and 1/2 cup rice

For large dogs 2 chicken breast and 1 cup rice

The chicken should be without antibiotics and hormones and have no bones at all.

Once the chicken is cooked, cut it into small pieces or shred it as much as possible.

Let it cool off a bit. Never serve very hot food for your dog.

Mix it with the rice and serve it to your pup.

Also, instead of his regular water try giving him some ice cubes. Ice cubes can help calm his stomach down, while still keeping him hydrated.

Give him this chicken and rice recipe about twice a day until his stomach upset is gone.

It really shouldn’t take more than a day or two.

If his stomach problem still persists despite this, contact you veterinarian right away. It might be serious.

Also if your dog has no apatite and doesn’t even want to eat the chicken and rice, take him to the Veterinarian as soon as possible. Not wanting to eat is never a good sign and if not handled right away it can be life threatening.

Take a nice walk

Believe it or not, taking your dog out to a nice walk can help a lot.

It’s kind of like watching TV when you are not feeling good. The TV takes your mind off of your problems a bit.

Same with dogs.

When my dog has an upset tummy, I take him on a nice walk in the forest near my house, and in the end he usually comes out feeling a lot better.

He then takes a nice nap, and most of the time he is fine by the next day.

Now if your dog doesn’t want to walk, don’t push it. If he just wants to rest let him.

But with a mild tummy upset most dogs will hav no problem going on walks.
